Green informations
Dear Guests,
We extend a warm welcome to you! Our wish is for you to feel excellent in our environment and to remember your stay with us for pleasant experiences.
In the year 2022, our establishment was awarded the “GREEN KEY” environmental certification, a leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainability in the tourism industry. This certification signifies our commitment to strict criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). With this recognition, we have achieved:
EXCELLENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES.
We declare that:
- We act environmentally friendly in all aspects of our operations.
- We raise awareness about the importance of sustainability among our visitors, guests, friends, and relatives.
- We continually seek new solutions for responsible use of natural resources and efficient use of electricity and heat energy.
Such actions are primarily beneficial for the natural environment. In most cases, environmentally friendly practices involve small efforts and no significant sacrifices. They require simple and barely noticeable actions. However, when undertaken collectively, we can change the world for the better and leave it to future generations as we received it from our ancestors.
Therefore, our staff, inspired by environmental consciousness, commits to responsible environmental practices, which we also encourage our guests to adopt. Significant for obtaining the Green Key certification is the aspect of raising awareness. We will be grateful if you follow our advice and contribute to environmental preservation. We also welcome your comments and suggestions, which we will consider to the fullest extent or forward to relevant authorities.
Thank you in advance for your understanding, support, and kindness!
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL SPARKS
IN-ROOM TAP WATER
Drinking water flows from the tap in our rooms. To maintain a satisfactory quality of life, an average person uses 80 liters of drinking water per day. In Slovenia, households use from 130 to 200 liters of drinking water per person daily. Just one flush of a toilet uses from 2 to 8 liters of clean drinking water, and an average Slovenian household uses 6 liters of drinking water per day for cooking. Avoid buying bottles; fill your own and enjoy our tap water. When washing and showering, be sure to close the taps promptly. Join us in preserving this essential life source.
BLED IS BEAUTIFUL. LET’S SEPARATE WASTE AND KEEP IT THAT WAY.
We separate waste according to guidelines, disposing of waste in appropriate containers, never in nature or drains. Discarded waste inappropriately pollutes groundwater and other sources of drinking water. In your room, you’ll find separate bins for packaging and organic waste, and in the bathroom, one for mixed waste. Other waste (glass, paper, metals, batteries, and any hazardous waste) can be left on the table or brought to the reception.
REDUCING PLASTIC USAGE
While plastic may make our lives easier, there is simply too much of it in the world, and humanity has not yet found a suitable solution. In Slovenia, we produced an average of 489 kg of municipal waste per capita in 2020. An individual in Slovenia uses 100 to 300 plastic bags annually, each in use for only a few minutes to an hour. Globally, we produce increasing amounts of plastic, with 6.4 million tons ending up in the environment. Plastic particles infiltrate our bodies and those of animals, significantly impacting our health. In our hotel and restaurant, we have completely eliminated single-use plastic products. We offer and use natural and environmentally friendly materials. We kindly ask you to do the same.
EMPTY ROOMS ARE NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK
We use energy-efficient/LED bulbs, contributing to lower electricity consumption and environmental conservation. We carefully turn off lights when not needed.
REDUCING CARBON FOOTPRINT
Our hotel has quality insulation and energy-efficient windows. We close doors and windows, preventing rooms from heating up in the summer, eliminating the need for additional cooling. We ventilate rooms briefly in the morning and evening and use curtains during the day. All windows in hotel rooms also have shutters for additional insulation. Thus, air conditioning is not necessary for cooling. The air conditioner automatically turns off when windows are open. This effectively reduces our carbon footprint.
ENJOYING LOCAL RICHES OF NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
Our environment boasts exceptional natural and cultural heritage – visit, learn, experience, and taste it! Information about landmarks, experiences, gastronomy, and customs can be obtained at our information point in the reception.
EXPLORING THE SURROUNDINGS WITH ECO-FRIENDLY MOBILITY OPTIONS
Our region is ideal for cycling and hiking.
Every excursion or tour you take by bike or on foot instead of by car is an environmentally friendly act. Have you ever thought about how differently we experience a place when we visit it on foot or by bike? We truly feel it up close, smelling and hearing it. We open ourselves to the locals and can establish connections with them more easily. Only in this way can we truly understand the places and people we visit. Trekking bike rental is free for all guests, operating on a “first come, first served” basis. We also rent powerful electric scooters for rides around the lake and beyond. Information about rental options or borrowing bikes, equipment, and details about cycling and hiking trails can be obtained at the reception.
CAREFUL USE OF DETERGENTS AND WATER FOR LAUNDRY
Hotels worldwide use tons of detergents and millions of liters of water daily for washing towels and linens used only once. We change bed linen and towels with every guest change or only if you expressly wish. More than 80% of our visitors reuse their towels several times before sending them to laundry. Join other guests in environmental conservation. Hang your towel on the radiator or hanger if you intend to use it again. Only towels on the floor will be replaced.
